Need your wisdom
I am 3 months post op- following all the rules of vitamins, water and protein. I have been told to incorporate more solid foods into my diet and leave some of the protein drinks out. Specifically complex carbs.
Well, I have started this, choosing very carefully and I am now gaining weight. Two pounds in 4 days. I am staying under 900 calories a day, most being protein of all kinds. I have BM's that are always paste. I started adding liquid fiber to my drinks along with the Tri-fiber pills twice a day. I have no energy, no desire to exercise, very down maybe depressed all the time. Very low patience with my grandbabys that I watch every day.
Please help me! I am getting more and more frustrated and defeated. Is 900 calories too much for 3 months? I was exercising 4-5 days a week, either walking or on Wii Fitness for 1 1/2 hours, now no desire. Anyone been here?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey there,
I just wanted to let you know the gain could be because of water weight? Your body will do that to you sometimes. Don't worry the weight will drop! And "yes" I have been through the same thing. I am still going through it. I had my rny on 1-16-08 and it's still a rough journey for me. Somedays all I wanna do is eat and then there are days when I don't want to exercise. You have not been defeated because you have not given up this fight! Just remember when you wake up tomorrow it's a new day and a new attitude!!
Good Luck
Jules

I was sick all the time, everything I ate never stayed down. So I ended up eating refried beans and cheese for a long time. Why don't you try that, and try to eat more foods that have some fiber and lay off taking fiber pills. Keeps up you really need to discuss this with your doctor. You might be lacking a vitamin or just not getting enough protein or water.
Good luck, Diane

I'm so glad you posted!
I know I mentioned last night I thought this had happened to me, and I went back and checked. Sure enough, around three months out, I gained five pounds suddenly. Stalled for a few weeks, and then started losing again.
Keep pressing on, maybe try some of the other things I mentioned in the PM and absolutely do not let this get you down! It will pass! Keep your chin up.

First, let me congratulate you on your tremendous weight loss in such a short time. 67 pounds in 3 months should feel like a huge victory for you. Maybe your body is just taking a little time to make a few adjustments before you continue down. You have put your body through a very stressful surgery (my angel and doctor always said, "Your insides were really carved up."). Breathe deep for a few moments each day and congratulate yourself on your strength and courage...and success.
At 3 months, I was eating yogurt, turkey chili, string cheese and tuna which I made softer with parmesan cheese and green enchilada sauce (what can I say, I like the taste and texture of it). For more protein, I drank Starbucks de-caf skinny vanilla lattes. I took a few Colace every day because I couldn't handle veggies until after a year. This worked for me.
Be kind to yourself; you deservr it,
nancy
